bats

One night bats flew in through the windows of my house. They swilled all around me and crawled all over my skin and clung to my clothing. I stood up from my chair where I had been sitting and smoking a cigarette and stretched out full. I made myself tall to stretch out my spine and then let my body lull down so that my knees were slightly bent and my palms were touching the floor, then I slowly stood back up so that I could feel each vertebrae of my spine unfurling. The bats draped all about me began to fall asleep, and so did I.
